The Global Language Network (GLN) is a vibrant DC-based 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. We offer affordable language classes in more than 60 languages taught by dedicated native speakers who volunteer their time and energy to teach their language and share their culture. 

We are thrilled to announce our brand-new program, our Teaching Fellowship! 

We are looking for passionate and energetic native speakers of Mandarin who would like to share their language and culture by teaching with GLN. 

Serving as a GLN Teaching Fellow is an excellent opportunity to develop professional skills, gain invaluable experience, become a leader in our multilingual community and make a positive impact. Here are some of the benefits: 

Teach your language and share your culture with highly motivated and passionate individuals Take advantage of professional development opportunities: GLN teacher and leadership training as well as GLN-sponsored opportunities for external training and certification Gain teaching experience and credentials Develop leadership & management skills Improve interpersonal and public speaking skills Enjoy exclusive social and networking events and participate in our bi-annual Fellowship conferences Gain "Priority Registration" for GLN classes 

Note: This is an unpaid position. 

We hold classes on the Foggy Bottom Campus of The George Washington University, as well as several partner locations throughout DC. Classes meet once a week for two hours, after 5 p.m. on weekdays and during the day on Saturdays. Each teacher's schedule is based on his or her availability. 

Responsibilities:
One-year commitment Participate in all GLN trainings Create thorough lesson plans for all classes, adhering to GLN's teaching methodology and curriculum Use the target language effectively and efficiently (at least 75% of the classroom time) and ensure your students are doing the same Maintain timely and open communication with GLN at all times. Participate in monitoring/evaluation (complete Fellow feedback surveys and Fellow self-assessment form each semester) Perform administrative duties, such as marking attendance promptly Attend class and be punctual Represent GLN in and outside of the classroom 

Selection criteria:
Native Mandarin speaker Passion about GLN's mission and learning approach Commitment to teaching and education Teaching potential and prowess Motivation to grow and develop as an individual and as a leader Demonstrated leadership ability/potential Team work and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
